So much to do, so little time…
Working on my second book for HQN. What fun. Takes place in a small town modeled after historic Guthrie, Oklahoma. Here’s a little info on it, just to tease and taunt
you:
There’s something about a dying grandmother. Even a mean one. When they call you home, well, you have to come. Annie Dolan, a CPA who lives in New York now, is okay with that—with a visit home to Cutterville, Oklahoma. She’s made her peace with the idea.
What she’s not okay with is finding her dangerously charming ex-husband, Devlin Tenhawk, nationally known poker champion, lounging on the wide front verandah of her grandmother’s huge, rambling historic mansion. Is it irony or what? The first familiar face she sees after four years away from home just happens to be the one person she’d hoped never to set eyes on again…
I kind of think of this one as You Can’t Take it With You meets
Mommy Dearest with a tiny dab of Wuthering Heights—or maybe
Rebecca. Wahoo! At one point I even titled it Granny
Dearest. The heroine’s grandmother is a total tyrant, has everybody in the family under her thumb—well, except Annie, of course.
Annie had thought she’d escaped her grandma’s domination, but now Grandma is dying and Annie has come home. All she wants is outta there. Fast.
You think she’ll get away?
That would be no.
Bet On It won’t be out till late 2007—at the earliest—but I’ll keep you posted as we approach publication. Also, my first HQN,
Ralphie’s Wives, is eleven months and counting from hitting the stands. Be ready. Hah!
In the meantime, watch for The Reluctant Cinderella, coming out this July and
Married in Haste in September, both from Special Edition. I’ll be putting more info up on these two books as I receive it from my publisher.
In the meantime, enjoy those May flowers…
All my best,
Christine
